Fifty years ago, Lorne Michaels walked into New York’s Rockefeller Centre with a dream to do something no one had ever done before.
He created what was once simply titled Saturday Night but is now known to fans around the world as the iconic live sketch comedy hit Saturday Night Live.
This year, Michaels is celebrating the 50th anniversary of his hit show with months of smaller events and releases all leading up to tonight – SNL 50: The Anniversary Special.
The three-hour special edition episode is broadcast live on TV with a live audience which, tonight, is packed with some of Hollywood’s biggest names.
