Nova host Nikki Osbourne shares the comment that made Chris hemsworth block her on Facebook

Controversial Aussie comedian Nikki Osborne has shared the ill-timed joke that saw her blocked on Facebook by an Aussie icon.

On a recent episode of her Nova 106.9 breakfast show, Osbourne told co-hosts Ash Bradnam and David ‘Lutsy’ Lutteral about how she went from being friends with Chris Hemsworth on Facebook to getting blocked.

The duo first met way back in the early 2000s at a Melbourne charity event, with Osbourne explaining that at the time she saw him as “just another Home & Away himbo”.

“We did exchange Facebook friend requests, that was back when it was private… when you could only have 5000 people, there were no public pages yet,” she shared.

They remained friends on Facebook for years, Until Chris’ younger brother, Liam Hemsworth began to make headlines for his tumultuous relationship.

“There was trouble in the press between Liam and Miley [Cyrus],” Osbourne recalled.

She claimed that Chris took to Facebook at a time when the relationship was all over the news, sharing a status that read ”There’s nothing worse than watching someone you love make the same mistakes over and over.”

So, Osbourne – as a comedian – saw her opportunity to make light of the situation and leave a joke in the comments.

“So because I’m an idiot I wrote, ‘Ebola. I reckon Ebola’s worse’, because there was an Ebola breakout – topical – I thought I was being funny!” she said.

But while Osbourne may have found the joke funny, it seems that Chris thought it was quite the opposite.

“He blocked me…I got unfriended,” she said, adding that she now recognises, “It was probably a little insensitive”.

“This is why comedians end up miserable and alone, because they go for the joke instead of the considered, considerate response,” she added.
